Use the tool above to answer the question every crafting game eventually asks: what do I actually need to gather to make this?
Enter your recipes once, choose a target item and a quantity, and the calculator expands the whole tree — every intermediate step, resolved down to raw materials you have to gather or buy.
Why this calculator ships with no game data
Graveyard Keeper 2 launches on September 22, 2026 and no recipe values have been published by Lazy Bear Games or tinyBuild. Instead of guessing, this tool takes your own numbers, which means it cannot go stale and it works from day one of launch.
Verified recipes will be published on the recipes page as soon as they can be tested in game.
How to use it
- Add one recipe per craft. Output item, how many you get per craft, and the inputs.
- Enter inputs as
Item:Quantity, comma separated. For examplePlank:2, Iron Nail:4.Item x2andItem 2also work, and an entry with no number counts as 1. - Pick the target item and how many you want.
- Read the raw material list, sorted by quantity so the biggest demand is at the top.
Your recipe book is stored in your browser, so it is still there next time you open the page.
Why the totals are sometimes higher than you expect
The calculator rounds each craft up to a whole batch. If a recipe makes 3 items and you need 4, you craft twice — and you pay for 6, not 4.
That sounds wrong until you play an automation game for a few hours. It is exactly the behaviour that makes late-game material estimates drift: small rounding at the bottom of a chain multiplies into large surpluses at the top. Showing you the real number is the point.
When to use this instead of the production calculator
The two tools solve different problems:
| Question | Tool |
|---|---|
| What do I need to gather to craft 20 of X? | Recipe calculator (this page) |
| How many stations do I need to produce X forever? | Production calculator |
| Which step in my chain is the bottleneck? | Production calculator |
| What does a full squad's equipment cost in raw materials? | Recipe calculator (this page) |
Rule of thumb: one-off goals use this tool, continuous rates use the production calculator.
Turning the result into a plan
The raw material list is only useful if you compare it against your actual capacity. Two checks:
- Can I gather this in a day? Cross-check the top entries against the confirmed harvest categories — flora, fauna and human remains — in the resource locations guide.
- Can I buy it instead? Restored Town buildings unlock products and resources you can buy, so some items on the list may be purchasable rather than gatherable. See town restoration.
If the answer to both is no, the item is gated behind progression, not effort — and the fix is usually a Technology Tree unlock rather than more grinding. The developers have confirmed the sequel deliberately reduces grinding.
Building a reusable recipe book
The tool is most valuable if you treat it as a database you fill in as you play. Five fields per recipe is enough:
- Output item and quantity per craft.
- Inputs with quantities.
- Station used.
- Unlock source — Tech Tree node or Town building.
- Notes — anything that surprised you.
Recording the unlock source is the field people skip, and it is the one that tells you whether a missing recipe is a research problem or a material problem.
FAQ
Does this contain official Graveyard Keeper 2 recipe data?
No. No recipe values have been published. You enter your own.
Why does it round up?
Because you cannot craft a fraction of a batch. If a recipe makes 3 and you need 4, you craft twice.
What happens if two recipes make the same item?
The first one wins. Keep one recipe per output item and update it when you find a better version.
Is my data saved?
Yes, in your browser's local storage on this device. Nothing is uploaded.
Can I use this for other games?
Yes. It has no game-specific assumptions built in.
